Miracles

This morning I was pondering the word “miracles”. Some today do not believe that the God of Abraham, Joseph and Jacob does miracles today. After all how many of you recently have witnessed the dividing of water as when God divided the Red Sea so the people of Israel could pass through safely, escaping from Pharaoh’s chariots? When was the last time God granted a Sampson like character to push apart the pillars of the building killing God’s enemies? Has anyone witnessed the feeding of 5,000 people from a small gathering of fish and bread?

I am in the process of reading the Genesis Record by Dr. Henry M Morris. It documents very well the creation story plus from a biblical, natural, scientific view showing how creation itself is a marvelous miracle. He documents well the flood and much, much more. I highly recommend it for your personal reading and or study.

Years ago my brother and I went to visit a friend of his in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, Canada. This was an awkward visit for me as a few days earlier I had sprained one ankle while play wrestling with my niece. So going up a steep set of stairs with a pair of crutches was very difficult, but with determination I managed to make it up the stairs. While we were up there, we prayed for a healing for my foot. While we were in prayer I began to feel a tingling feeling in my foot. I thought to myself; ”Is God healing my foot right now?” Well at the end of the visit I walked down the stairs without the use of the crutches with next to no pain at all. God had miraculously healed my foot.

I can relate many more personal situations where God had acted in saving me from many of pains and my life itself.

Last night I spoke to this same brother by phone and he related to me another act of the grace of God in a miraculous healing situation.
Apparently and unbeknownst to me Gerry had an accident of some sort at the age of 9 years old, where one of the vertebrae in his spine had turned 90 degrees. Needless to say this would give one a sore back. He has been facing this day in day out pain in his back for just over 50 years.

Having being a believer for many years, Gerry has been praying for a healing all these many years. Well, to cut to the short, two days ago while being down on his knees in prayer (which is a daily norm for him and his family), he began to feel better with this sore back. He began to think that God was doing a miracle at that very moment and was indeed healing his back. Gerry said that after prayer he stood up much faster and easier than he has been able to do for a very many years. He said that he felt completely healed from the turned, twisted vertebrae.

To make absolutely certain that this was the case he called his doctor the next day and begged his doctor to take an x-ray to see if indeed it was cured. The doctor at first said no, but after more coaxing from my brother, he relented and an x-ray was taken. Well, by now I think you know what the result was. God had indeed miraculously cured my brothers back, something that doctors could never do.

All this to say that many and most of us are suffering in very many ways either physically, spiritually, emotionally etc. God has told us in His word through the apostle Paul to pray in all things, always. He sometimes will answer our prayers immediately. Sometimes He says wait. Sometimes He says no. But in these and in all situations, God loves us very much and wants to do what is best for us. We may not always understand why He says, no, or wait etc. But what we do know is that He knows what is best for us.
Perhaps your situation is one that you wish that there was a quick turn around, but God says, no or wait. Whom should you listen to God or your own impatience? Should you listen to God or your own desires? Who knows best, you or God?

Does God still do miracles today? One of the greatest and most ongoing miracles today is the miracle of salvation. Thousands of people are being led to salvation every day. Another marvelous ongoing daily miracle is the miracle of new birth, a new baby born.

Perhaps we do not see fantastic large scale miracles today like the parting of the Red Sea, but be assured that God is doing miracles every day. And one of the greatest miracles is yet to occur likely very soon. And that is what is described in the Scriptures when God draws all believers from the past and present to Him, when we shall all be changed ion the twinkling of an eye, transformed into new bodies, with a new mind. 1 Cor. 15:52
So I say to you, no matter what your situation is just wait upon God and wait for a miracle.

“Look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” Luke 21:28 King James Version.
